Charlotte returns to Paranormal Public for her second semester knowing that she must embrace yet another new destiny.
She wasn’t expecting it to be easy, and it isn’t.
Now, demons beat at the protections surrounding Public, and inside the safety of the grounds is a new threat, an ancient resentment that has nothing to do with demons, but is born of a much more personal pain.
Luckily, she isn’t the target.
Or is she?
Now, she and her friends must stand together to protect each other, even if they don’t know from whom . . . until it’s too late.

My Thoughts

While reading about Charlotte and her friends the Spiderman quote keeps popping up in my mind, “with great power comes great responsibility.”  Boy, is Charlotte feeling that responsibility in this book.  The book is enjoyable, although choppy at times.  Regardless of it being choppy it is still one of my favorite series.  All the paranormal elements that I enjoy:  boarding school/college check, mixture of paranormals check, no love triangle check, the unexpected happing check.  I did figure out who the villain was pretty easy in this one but still it did not deter my joy of reading the book

I love me some Lisabelle and Sip.  Yeah, I know they are the supporting cast in this book but I cannot help but think that without them Charlotte would be boring.  Lisabelle brings out the rebel in Charlotte while Sip keeps them together as a family.  I love how they are always quick to defend each other in public- yeah they may disagree but the three gals always presents a united front in private it may be another story.

Other Characters

Keller- Fallen Angel, attracted to Charlotte but there are obstacles.
Lisabelle- Darkness Mage, she rocks applesauce with a temper to prove it.
Sip- Warewolf, being the only gal in a huge litter of boys has allowed her the ability create a home like environment for our misfits
Logan-Dreamweaver, lots of paranormals think his is a useless power
Lanca- Vampire princess, commands and gets respect
Mrs. Swan- Housekeeper for Astra, the dorm for elementals

Seventeen year old Jade Sommers life tuned upside down the moment she saw the inch long cut across her face, heal right before her eyes.

Jade thought she was going insane, but her boyfriend Aiden Scott knew better. He knew what she was. And like him, she was born this way.

Now if finding out that people like her shouldn’t exist was bad enough, Jades best friend is kidnapped by the psycho who’s terrorized her dreams. With the help of Aiden, she has to figure out how to save her, before it’s too late.

But what Jade doesn’t know, is not everything is what it seems. She is merely a puppet in a sadistic game to find out what she is truly capable of – and the game has only just begun

My Thoughts

You know how you want to like a book?  You like the concepts of the book, it reads easy, flows well.  But in the back of your mind you keep thinking something is not right.  That was evolution for me- I enjoyed reading it but Aiden just seems a little too perfect, a little too into Jade a little too “Leave it to Beaver” but on steroids since he is evolved.  I did not buy into the whole I didn’t use my powers on you at all even though we have been together for year and a half.  Plus Jade’s mom really being okay with her boyfriend staying over or her spending the night at his house.  It ends with a heck of a cliff-hanger but I still wasn’t feeling it.

Other Characters

Chelsea- Jade’s best friend, gets kidnapped and has to be saved.
Ben- Aiden’s best friend, madly in love with Chelsea.
Chrissy- frienemy is the best way to describe her.
Anna/Dave- Aiden's family, who is evolved like him.

Seventeen-year old Cassandra is a fallen angel with absolutely no plans to take over the family business aka Hell. When she finds out she's cursed and soon bound to Hell forever, she has to come up with a good plan to escape fate.

Then Cassandra meets Dallas, the only one who can help her. Trouble is Dallas is mortal and falling for him was never supposed to happen.

Falling in love has never been this dangerous when she not only has to change her future, but also escape her destiny.

My Thoughts

This was the second book in a series and I was a little disappointed that the main characters from the first book took a backseat in this one.  I understand why but I would have loved some more Amber and Aiden time.  Cassandra is a strong character who is not afraid to bend the rules a little to get what she wants.  Being Lucifer’s daughter can make anyone shun rules.  But I did get a little annoyed with why she was keeping secrets from Dallas.  I mean she loves him and he loves her so why not just tell him.  Overall it was an easy and fun read.  I would of course read more from this author.

 Other Characters

Pinky/ Kinky - an angel and a demon gifted to Cassandra’s by her parents after their split (they kinda remind me of those cartoon angel/demons that sit on your shoulders).
Tharin- shape shifting demon, Cass’ closest friend, may have dated him before her daddy found out
Amber- Dallas’ sister sometimes makes life a little difficult for Cass
Aiden- Amber’s bonded mate, happens to be a vampire
Lucifer- Cass’ daddy, he really is the devil- kinda funny that her momma is an angel
Theo- a paranormal soul suck in Hell that Cass’ and Amber try to help

Spellcaster

Author: Cara Lynn Shultz
Format: eBook
Print Length: 384 pages
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Published: March 27, 2012

After breaking a centuries-old romantic curse, Emma Connor is (almost) glad to get back to normal problems. Although…it's not easy dealing with the jealous cliques and gossip that rule her exclusive Upper East Side prep, even for a seventeen-year-old newbie witch. Having the most-wanted boy in school as her eternal soul mate sure helps ease the pain—especially since wealthy, rocker-hot Brendan Salinger is very good at staying irresistibly close….

But something dark and hungry is using Emma's and Brendan's deepest fears to reveal damaging secrets and destroy their trust in each other. And Emma's crash course in überspells may not be enough to keep them safe…or to stop an inhuman force bent on making their unsuspected power its own.

My Thoughts

Emma’s and Brendan’s relationship is at the center of this book.  I love the fact that the author does not pretend that even though they are destined to be together that everything will be peachy.  I enjoy the moments of turbulence due to Brendan’s past and the moments of his insecurities.  The best thing about this book though is Emma’s discoveries of being a neophyte witch.    The spells that she has to use to protect what is hers are interesting.  The confidence that Emma has to have in herself and in the whole soul mate destiny makes her a wonderful heroine.  I also love that her relationships with her friends continue to grow.

Other Characters

Ashley- Emma’s cousin, a little to peppy.  Almost like she has had too much caffeine although she is loyal to her cousin.
Cisco- friend, strong supporter of Emma and Brendan’s relationship.
Angelique- Emma’s best friend, teacher of all things witchy and empathic.  Adore her opinions on Brendan~ how they change and go.
Kristin- evil little rich gal who wants Brendan.  Can you tell I like to hate her?
Megan- You just have to read about her.  SMH
