There's an alien next door. And with his looming height and eerie green eyes, he's hot...until he opens his mouth. He's infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, he lights me up with a big fat bulls-eye. Turns out he has a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal his abilities and the only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to him until my alien mojo fades. If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Onyx

Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro alien connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems. I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

Lux: Consequences (Opal & Origin) official blurb:

Opal

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing alien hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Origin

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back. After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?

He knows how to dress.

I'd never seen him in anything except an impeccably tailored wool suit, simple silk tie, and an overcoat that looked like a prop from Casablanca. And the fedora that covered his dark hair was such a permanent fixture, I often found myself debating if the shadows shrouding his handsome face were from the hat or some other, more mysterious source.

Even Tess' Gran approves.

Gran shot me an irritated glance. "I am just saying that he has gone out his way for you. he seems like a perfect gentleman. And he certainly is handsome enough."

He knows how to kiss.

My eyes fluttered closed as Nate's lips found mine in a slow, unhurried kiss, his mouth pressing against mine so tenderly it stole my breath.

Nate kissed me like a man on a mission, his lips demanding to know every secret, every mystery of my own.

Nate has already been through a lot to protect Tess.  Each time he does protect her he has to undergo a penance that an ordinary guy would not survive.  His love for her knows no bounds.

"Demetrius knows me well," I interrupted. "He knows that I'm not afraid of what's coming for me. But there's always more than one way to bring a man to his knees, sweetheart, and I've showed my hand. He knows my weakness."

"Me."

"Exactly."

Grimm Consequence by Kate SeRine Kindle Location 312

Nate is one of my all time favorite characters. He is the perfect combination of sweet but deadly. His love for Tess has always been evident.  He understands that she is his greatest weakness and his greatest strength.

Waiting on Wednesday (13) Darkbound

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Malcolm has seven days to unravel a twenty year old mystery, find a body, capture a killer and keep a demon at arm's length.

No one hates being a witch quite like Malcolm. But if there's one thing worse than being a witch, it's being a Moonset witch. There are very few things in his life that he can control, and after a fight with his siblings, he's losing his grip on what he's got left.

A creature as old as Hamelin has crept out of the Abyss, and its siren song has infected the teenagers of Carrow Mill compelling them, at first, to simply be swept away in love. But love soon turns dangerous, as passion turns to violence and an army of sociopaths is born.

The Pied Piper isn't just a story, and he's got his eyes set on Malcolm, promising a life of freedom from magic and the shackles of the Moonset bond. As Carrow Mill burns, Malcolm must make the hardest choice of his life: family? Or freedom?

Why am I waiting?

The first book in the series Moonset was really good. I am hoping that this one is just as good or better. I am little nervous of this one being told in a different POV than Moonset.

Teaser Tuesday (12) Alliance

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

"Hey, sis, can I ask you something?"

My heart skidded. Was he going to ask about Astreran? "I guess. It depends what it is."

Silence fell, and I wondered if he's given up. He gave a quick intake of breath. "you're not going to go through with it, are you?"

"Go through with what?" The mission? Of course we were finishing that. We had no choice.

He answer came out of the blue, ramming me like a transport ship. "Your pairing with Tauren. No offense, but I don't want a space brain for a brother-in-law."

Page 126

How gorgeous is this book cover?  Only a brother could get away with asking a question like that.  But man were we all thinking it.  Tauren is a bit of a mean guy.  I know what her answer is.

He knows how to tell a girl his feelings.

“I have something I need to tell you," he says. I run my fingers along the tendons in his hands and look back at him. "I might be in love with you." He smiles a little. "I'm waiting until I'm sure to tell you, though."
"That's sensible of you," I say, smiling too. "We should find some paper so you can make a list or a chart or something."
I feel his laughter against my side, his nose sliding along my jaw, his lips pressing my ear.
"Maybe I'm already sure," he says, "and I just don't want to frighten you."
I laugh a little. "Then you should know better."
"Fine," he says. "Then I love you.”

He understands his woman.

“You think my first instinct is to protect you. Because you're small, or a girl, or a Stiff. But you're wrong."

He leans his face close to mine and wraps his fingers around my chin. His hand smells like metal. When was the last time he held a gun, or a knife? My skin tingles at the point of contact, like he's transmitting electricity through his skin.

He gives great advice.

His hands skim my bare arms. “Just bounce a little when you walk,” he says, kissing my forehead, “and pretend you’re afraid of their guns” —another kiss between my eyebrows— “and act like the shrinking violet you could never be ”—a kiss on my cheek— “and you’ll be fine.”

Tobias understands what it is to be different- to be more.  He is supportive of Tris and she is better because of him.

Swoon Thursday (11) Catching Fire

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme. Here's how it works.

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

He tilts his forehead down to rest on mine and pulls me closer. His skin, his whole being, radiates heat from being so near the fire, and I close my eyes, soaking in his warmth. I breathe in the smell of snow-dampened leather and smoke and apples, the smell of all those wintery days we shared before the Games. I don't try to move away. Why should I, anyway? His voice drops to a whisper. "I love you."

Kindle Location 993

"Because I don't want you forgetting how different our circumstances are. If you die, and I live, there's no life or me at all back in District Twelve. You're my whole life," he says. "I would never be happy again."

Kindle Location 3498

The book in comparison to the movie has three more extra scenes. Were they critical to the storyline- no. Was the book better than the movie-no. It did allow us to see more inside Katniss' head though. Which was nice, since there were times I wanted to shake her and tell her she was being silly. She needed to woman up- let go of Gale and fall madly in love with Peeta. Then again can she really love in a society like hers?

Waiting on Wednesday (12) Sweet Reckoning

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

It’s time.

Evil is running rampant and sweet Anna Whitt is its target. Nobody knows when or how the Dukes will strike, but Anna and her Nephilim allies will do anything necessary to rid the earth of the demons and their oppressive ways.

The stakes are higher than ever, and Anna is determined that the love she feels will be her strength, not a liability. But trying to protect the ones she loves while running for her life and battling demonic forces proves to be perilous—especially as faces are changing and trust is fleeting. When the Duke of Lust sends Anna’s great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she’s prepared to risk.

In the most sensual and fast-paced installment yet, Sweet Reckoning brings all the beloved Neph together one last time to fight for their freedom.

Why am I waiting?

The first book was good. The second book was better. The third book is going to be epic! Kaidan is a HOT male lead that knows he is hot. Anna is a sweet gal that is getting tougher as the series goes on. I need to know if she can defeat the Dukes and if love can prevail.

His hand brushes the loose stands of my hair off my forehead. Unlike the staged kisses and caresses so far, this gesture seems natural and comforting. I don't want him to stop and he doesn't. He's still stroking my hair when I fall asleep.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins Kindle location 2677

Okay, so I will be completely honest. I had no intention of reading this series. I saw the movie, and I liked the movie. But everyone and their momma was saying that the book was so much better. I got the book and read it in two days. Guess what? They all lied. The book and the movie match up pretty well. I also can honestly say that all those Galeshipers are cray-cray. He is barely in the book so how can he be better than Peeta?

He knows how to give a compliment.

“No one is like you, Alex."
I grinned. "I'll take that as a compliment."
"It is." He nudged me again, and my grin gew into another ludicrous smile- the kind Caleb gave Olivia when they weren't tearing each other's heads off. "You're incredibly intelligent, Alex. Funny and..."
"Pretty?"
"No, not pretty."
"Cute?"
"No."
I frowned. "Well, then."
Aiden's laugh sent shivers through me. "I was going to say 'stunning.' You're stunningly beautiful.”

~Pure

He is a romantic.

"I can’t keep pretending that I don’t want this – that I don’t want you. I can’t. Not after what happened to you. It thought… I thought I’d lost you, Alex, forever. And I would’ve lost everything. You are my everything.”

~Diety

He is loyal.

“His eyes were burning a liquid silver and his arm tightened around me. "I wouldnever give up on you, Alex. Never."
"Then why are you being such a—"
"What?" his voice dropped low. "I'm being what?"
Infuriating. Stubborn. Thick-skulled. Freaking sexy. "Good gods, can we stop arguing and just, I don't know, make out?”

~Apollyon

He knows how to kiss.

His lips were on mine again, an incredibly gentle sweep that sent another tremble through me. It was slow and soft, kicking my heart rate up. The tingling in the back of my neck resided and returned, spreading across my belly and lower, but it was a different sensation. I felt Aiden- I felt love in his arms, and I didn't want to lose that feeling.

~Sentinel

Out of all of Jennifer L. Armentrout's books Aiden is my favorite hero.  He is dependable, hot and well knows how to kick butt.  His love for Alex is amazing.

“Wake up!”

I feel as though someone has pinched my mind, shaken my brain around, and asked it to work again. I try to open my eyes, but they’re heavy and clouded and I begin to worry that maybe they are open. I just can’t see.

“Wake up!”

I flinch at the sound, so close to my ear, yet far away. Or maybe it’s my understanding that’s far.

“Ari. We’re out of time. Wake up!”

My mind flashes into focus, but I don’t open my eyes. I can feel, sense, everything around me. The beeping sounds that alternate in succession. The breathing in and out of the person beside me, yet I can’t make out who the person is. Even if it’s a he or she. But what I can sense is danger, danger so intense that the hairs on my arms are at full attention and the xylem in my body has sparked, causing me to instantly want the person beside me dead. If he or she—it—is dead then I am free to escape, even if I have no idea what or who I am escaping from.

“Fine. Just call this payback.”

I have one second to realize that the person is Cybil, before a gut wrenching pain slices through my left arm. My eyes snap open and she’s in front of me, so pale and rattled that she looks like a ghost of herself. I glance down at my arm to see that Cybil ripped out my IV and is now holding it in her hand like a toy.

“I warned you. Look. This likely triggered an alarm. We have to get out of here. Right now.”

I try to nod, but my body is sluggish and I’m not sure that I’ve moved at all. Cybil loops her arm under my back to help me sit up, and instantly the room begins to move in and out of focus. “What happened to me?”

“They happened. Now move.”

I start to climb off the table I’m on, when Cybil’s eyes round out and her body begins to quake. “Cybil? What is it?” I reach out for her, just as her body collapses to the ground and a metal door behind her slides open. Two men dressed in thick white suits rush in, followed by a shorter man. A man I recognize.

“Hello, Ari. Nice to see you awake,” Kelvin says. Kelvin Lancaster. I remember him from the talks with Earth, how he seemed to be in control, how everyone around him acted uneasy in his presence. Like he was more enemy than friend. I start to respond to him, when I feel a sharp pinch in my arm. I look up to see another white-suited person behind me, syringe in hand. I try to push the person away. I try to open my mouth to scream. But suddenly my lips feel tingly, my arms limp. I focus back on Kelvin, on the grin on his face, and then the world around me disappears, and I’m once again alone in the darkness.

Yes, this book has been out since November. Oh and yes it was on auto-buy so I have no real excuse as to why I waited until now to read it. Expect maybe that it was the ending to a great series and I didn't want the series to end? That is really the only true reason. It has a lot of feels in it.

Waiting on Wednesday (11) The Treatment

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Can Sloane and James survive the lies and secrets surrounding them, or will The Program claim them in the end? Find out in this sequel to The Program, which Publishers Weekly called “chilling and suspenseful.”

How do you stop an epidemic?

Sloane and James are on the run after barely surviving the suicide epidemic and The Program. But they’re not out of danger. Huge pieces of their memories are still missing, and although Sloane and James have found their way back to each other, The Program isn’t ready to let them go.

Escaping with a group of troubled rebels, Sloane and James will have to figure out who they can trust, and how to take down The Program. But for as far as they’ve come, there’s still a lot Sloane and James can’t remember. The key to unlocking their past lies with the Treatment—a pill that can bring back forgotten memories, but at a high cost. And there’s only one dose.

Ultimately when the stakes are at their highest, can Sloane and James survive the many lies and secrets surrounding them, or will The Program claim them in the end?

Why am I waiting?

The first book in this series The Program was really good. I am curious about what happens to Sloane and James. When we last left them they were on their way into hiding. Did they stay hidden or did they find others like them?

I really like this series. It has all of my favorites- boarding school, paranormal government, a different type of paranormal as the main character. I was very worried when Paul shows back up- what if she gets back together with him? That plus the ghost had me reading way past my bedtime.

WHITE HOT KISS!

White Hot Kiss
ABOUT WHITE HOT KISS: One kiss could be the last. Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses. Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever. Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul. But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Swoon Thursday: Believe In Me

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme. Here's how it works.

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog! I want to know & so do the gals at YABound!
My hands trembled slightly as I slid it to the nape of her neck, tangling my fingers in the soft edges of her blond hair. My pulse pounded in all of the major points, but it was more than just a physical reaction. There was something about kissing her that felt like it was the first time and sure as hell wasn't the first time, but it felt right in a way that made me want to get away from her as fast as possible and somehow get even closer.

Brittany was one of my favorite best friends- always standing by Avery. So when I heard that she had her own story coming out I got excited. Ollie is a Cam's hottie friend and deserved a fabulous gal. This story was short, sweet and to the point- just what I needed. There are 19 stories in the anthology- but I will be honest I skipped to this one.  I will read the others as time permits.

Waiting on Wednesday (10) Grimm Consequences

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

You reap what you sow...

Saying Nate Grimm has a dark past is an understatement. Fortunately, no one's bothered to look too closely at the Fairytale Management Authority's lead detective and part-time Reaper. And that's the way Nate wants to keep it. For after centuries of torment and loneliness, he's finally found happiness with the hot and hard-charging love of his life, Tess "Red" Little.

Of course, his love for Tess is the reason there's a posse of Reaper judges after him, led by a sadistic bastard acquainted with Nate from once upon a time. Now, Tess will pay the price for Nate's transgressions unless Nate severs his ties to the transplanted Tales--and Tess--forever. His enemy has the advantage in speed, malice and brutality. But the Reapers have underestimated the depth of Nate's love and devotion. And the fury of his wrath. . .

Why am I waiting?

The Transplanted Tales series is one of my favorite series. The author has the ability to create a whole world based on make-believe then turn it our reality. It is fun to revisit some of your favorite children's stories and to see what "really" happened. I fell in love with Tess and Nate in Red and wondered what happened after they decided to become a couple. This gives me a chance to find out.

Teaser Tuesday (9) Not Your Average Happy Ending

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I shouldn't use magic for stupid stuff like that, but you know how it is. Sometimes a little bit of magic helps.

He put his finger to my lips, cutting me off. "And I don't regret my decision, Kendall. Not one bit."

"But-"

"No more talking." He silenced me with a kiss.

I cannot help but cheer for these two. A half-fairy/half-djinn hot boy who falls in love with his charge. A human girl that instead of a fairy godmother got stuck with a boy that didn't want to be a fairy godmother. I promise you this series sucks you in.
